Signum Fidei - Sign of Faith
More than 1,700 day and boarding students from Year 5 to Year 12 call St Joseph's Nudgee College, their school. Of these students, more than 315 are boarders who call Nudgee College their home from home. Our boys are passionate about their school, learning, and making the most of every opportunity.
As a leading Catholic school in the Edmund Rice Tradition, we have a strong school culture based on clear values and high expectations. Since its establishment in 1891, Nudgee College has developed a proud reputation as a school where fine young boys grow and develop into outstanding young men.
From the outset, Nudgee College has strived to provide young men with faith, formation, and opportunity. Each boy's holistic education and all-around development is a key focus of the College, which offers a rich diversity of educational opportunities in the classroom, the pastoral care program, extensive co-curricular pursuits, faith development, and social justice activities.
We are privileged to enjoy outstanding educational, sporting, and cultural facilities that enhance the school experience. However, while facilities are essential within a school, they are less important than those who use them.
Ultimately, we urge our Nudgee College boys to live out our College motto, ‘Signum Fidei,’ to be ‘a sign of faith’ to all.
We understand that choosing a school is a big decision for any family. We’re thrilled you are considering St Joseph’s Nudgee College Years 5-12 for your son!

Nudgee College Boarding is a true home away from home for our students. With a comprehensive pastoral care system including a Head of Boarding House, Assistant Head of House, House Mother, and a wealth of supervisors, as well as on-site healthcare, chefs, learning support staff, and more, this network of care ensures each boarder has a wide array of staff members they can reach out to for support.
The dedicated staff, including Heads of Boarding House, House Mums and Supervisors, provide a supportive home-like environment. The on-campus Health Centre is staffed with highly skilled and caring nurses 24/7, with doctors, dentists, podiatrists and physiotherapists on call.
Outside of the campus, students are treated to various activities and outings planned by the dedicated Recreation Coordinator, including trips to theme parks or sporting matches, cinema or shopping centre visits, laser skirmish, hiking, beach outings, futsal competitions, and much more.
The College provides bus services to and from the College for fare-paying students. Our Bus Travel Management system is called BusMinder, with students using their Student ID cards to access the bus services.
All students are set up with a BusMinder account and Parents/Caregivers use the associated BusMinder Parent App to manage fare payments and use the safety features. Further details on the BusMinder System are available at the College Bus Travel site.
Since its establishment in 1891, St Joseph’s Nudgee College has been committed to providing access to Catholic education for all boys, regardless of individual family financial circumstances. Each year the College will provide a limited number of bursaries and scholarships to students, who might otherwise be excluded from the College for financial reasons. The bursaries and scholarships are means-tested, confidential and reviewed annually.
We understand that choosing a school is a big decision for any family. We’re thrilled you are considering St Joseph’s Nudgee College Years 5-12 for your son.
Our College is where young men are nurtured and guided by highly qualified teachers who want to bring out the best in their students, bonds of brotherhood are formed, and where they can make the most of all the opportunities on offer. Our extensive and vibrant community encourages inclusion and allows every member to find a place where they will thrive.
This can be traced back to the very start in 1891, when Brother Ambrose Treacy, the visionary and driving force behind the establishment of Nudgee College, insisted that the young men who attended this school would receive the gifts of “faith, formation, and opportunity” to our current mission statement “we strive to provide an education that will liberate hearts and minds in the footsteps of Blessed Edmund Rice.”
At Nudgee College, we aim to develop young men of big hearts and good character who are determined to live out the College's values of faith, excellence, courage, community, justice, and authenticity. To produce men who will have a positive impact on society.
I trust this prospectus and other information you have gathered will help you and your family decide when your son's journey may begin at Nudgee College. We encourage you to visit our campus to see the rich diversity of educational, sporting, and cultural facilities that enhance the school experience.
I wish you all the best in making this important decision.
