St Vincent’s College is a non-selective, contemporary Catholic day and boarding school for girls. The current ethos and approach is based on a belief that an independent education should provide advantage not entitlement.
The College avoids visible ostentation, balances opportunities with responsibilities and invites students to learn in a culture that is informing, transforming and empowering.

Essentially, as we look to a future filled with opportunity for women in Australia, St Vincent’s College is all about empowering young women to be independent in thought, compassionate in attitude and confident to act.
Students follow a common curriculum comprising Religious Studies, English, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Languages (French or Italian), Technology, Visual Arts, Music and Personal Development, Health and Physical Education.
Years Nine and Ten (Stage 5):
Students follow a core curriculum which comprises Religious Studies, English, Mathematics, Science, Australian History, Australian Geography, Civics and Citizenship and Personal Development, Health and Physical Education. Additional studies reflecting the students’ abilities and interests are chosen from Commerce, Dance, Design and Technology, Drama, Geography, History, Italian, Music, Photography and Digital Media, Physical Activity and Sports Studies, Textiles Technology, Food Technology and Visual Arts.
Years Eleven and Twelve (Stage 6):
All students must undertake courses in Studies of Religion and English.

Year Twelve:
Additional extension courses are offered to Year 12 students including:
Mathematics Extension 2 (1U), English Extension 2 (1U), History Extension (1U), French Extension (1U) and Music Extension (1U).
The brand-new Mark 2:22 Atrium and Vickery Colonnade provide easy access for students and staff as they move between classrooms and other specialist facilities. The design aesthetically blends the old with the new and greatly enhances the circulation of people and the functionality of the campus.
The Study Centre inspires creativity with bright and spacious facilities, a workshop and the resources necessary for the diverse design and technology curriculum areas - including wood technology, textile technology and food technology.
Housed in our heritage Victoria Street building our Visual Arts Centre incorporates two large studios with mezzanine levels dedicated to the production of Year 12 major works, providing each student with the space and facilities to realise their creative aspirations.
The Boarding House offers modern and comfortable twin-share accommodation from Year 7 to 11 with Year 12 students in single rooms. Our boarders have a selection of other shared spaces including common rooms, outdoor areas and the boarders’ dining room. All these facilities have been recently refurbished and offer our boarders a bright and relaxed environment.
Modern technology is integrated throughout the College. Our facilities include specialist classrooms for each subject area, five Science Laboratories, Dance and Drama rooms, a well-appointed Learning Resource Centre, swimming pool and multi-purpose outdoor courts.
Our students enjoy the benefits of an exciting and extensive co-curricular programme that nurtures mind, body and spirit and builds individual confidence and self-esteem.
Something for Everyone
Students are encouraged to discover their athletic ability with individual and team sports; release their creativity with our performing and creative arts; share their generous spirit with social justice groups; and build strength of character with leadership opportunities.
Students can participate in classes such as dance, Performance Arts, acting, debating, public speaking, choral and instrumental music, the Mock Trial Competition and the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.
The College Sport Programme attracts high levels of participation by all students. Students are encouraged to choose at least one team or individual sport each term from an extensive range of options including basketball, netball, hockey, softball, cricket, volleyball, touch, soccer, water polo, athletics, cross country, swimming, diving, gymnastics and skiing.
All students in Years 7 to 10 enjoy annual an Outdoor Education Camp. Year 11 and 12 students undertake Retreats that strengthen their relationships with God and friends.
Our educational philosophy recognises the individuality and giftedness of each student and it promotes the development of her intellectual, spiritual, emotional, physical and aesthetic qualities. The modern curriculum combines the Ignatian philosophy with the best of pedagogical practices.

Boarding at St Vincent’s College provides a unique opportunity for students to broaden their horizons. Living and learning on the edge of one of the world’s great cities, our Boarders develop the independence, knowledge and confidence needed to successfully transition to lives beyond their secondary education.
An education at St Vincent’s College is comprehensive with a full academic program plus a busy co-curricular schedule. Boarders take full advantage of these co-curricular activities, as well as participating in the after school and weekend boarding activities.
Our bright and spacious boarding house offers accommodation in twin rooms for Years 7 to 11 and single rooms in Year 12. Indoor and outdoor facilities encourage our Boarders to engage in structured and self-directed community building.
Our experienced and compassionate Boarding Coordinators encourage the Boarders to achieve their true potential. Under their care all manner of personalities learn to live harmoniously in Boarding.
The Boarding community attend a weekly Mass at our local Parish, St Canice’s and take active roles in the liturgy.
Afternoon and evening study is structured by learning stage and is supervised by Boarding and Teaching staff as well as Tertiary students.
We recognise students as individuals and encourage exploration of their unique expression outside the realms of the traditional classroom. Our students enjoy the benefits of an exciting and extensive co-curricular programme that caters to their diverse talents and interests nurturing mind, body and spirit to build individual confidence and self-esteem.
Pastoral Care at St Vincent’s College is centred on the Tutor system which involves small vertically structured groups each under the care of a dedicated staff member offering encouragement and guidance to the students. The depth of communication between the varying year levels is further enhanced by the community nature of the Tutor system as well as the variety of peer support networks in the College.
The College House system builds on the strengths of the Tutor Group and uses the vertical house as the unit around which all the pastoral and administrative functions will revolve.
With a strong community focus the College ensures parents and carers of the students are valued partners, assisting and complementing the pastoral care and education of their daughters.
The College ensures the emotional and physical needs of the students are met by employing a full-time College Nurse and Counsellor.
Annual camps are enjoyed by students in Years 7 to 10 with senior students undertaking retreats that strengthen their relationship with God and friends.

Co-Curricular Program
St Vincent’s College offers numerous opportunities for students to participate in Co-Curricular activities. Choir, Circus, Dance, Debating, Drama and Music Ensembles are held before school, during lunchtime and after school. Ensembles are a wonderful opportunity for students to learn something new, improve existing skills or simply make new friends with similar interests.

Sydney landmarks and cultural facilities such as Government House, the Sydney Opera House, Australian Museum, the Art Gallery of New South Wales and the Royal Botanic Gardens are all within walking distance of the College.
The College is served well by public transport with many of our day students commuting from suburbs throughout metropolitan Sydney.
Boarders and their families have ready access to Sydney’s domestic and international airport terminals which are located only 15 minutes from the College.
St Vincent’s College is a Mary Aikenhead Ministry in the tradition of the Sisters of Charity. Mary Aikenhead was committed to service of the poor which continues to be upheld through the education ministry of St Vincent’s College. In Australia, the Sisters of Charity realised that as well as providing health care for the sick poor, providing education, especially for women, was pivotal.
Each year a variety of scholarships and bursaries are offered to students based on academic merit, particular gifts and talents (i.e. music, drama), student leadership or other areas as deemed appropriate by the College Board.
The College Board endeavours to provide opportunities for families who would otherwise be unable to afford quality Catholic education the chance to be educated at St Vincent’s College.

Vinnies Voices is hosted by Australian Journalist and former student Natarsha Belling (Class of 1992). With more than 25 years’ experience breaking the news stories that have changed and shaped our lives, Natarsha's passion, skill and warmth have seen her become a highly skilled and much admired television and radio host.
After graduating from University in Bathurst, Natarsha's first job was at Prime TV in Orange before moving to Darwin to work for the ABC. She returned to Sydney in 1998 to join Channel 10 and for more than twenty years Natarsha was a National Journalist and News Reader, presenting the Morning and Weekend News and also regularly co-hosting The Project and Studio 10.
Natarsha is now the presenter and co-producer of the innovative news podcast "Morning Agenda", a market leader in delivering news on demand. She is also the newsreader and co-host of the new radio talk show “Australia Today” with Steve Price which is beamed across the country.
