Why Choose Braemar

Located in a beautiful secure bushland setting, Braemar College provides a unique nurturing community in which your child can grow and flourish.

We have a proven history of academic success, but we also offer vocational training opportunities, and extensive arts and sporting programs.

We understand that learning is individual and that students develop at different rates and in different ways. So we focus on how young people learn and our programs are designed to meet the needs of different learning styles, talents and interests.

We foster an environment of tolerance and support, and we recognise and celebrate achievements while encouraging students to constantly seek out and explore new avenues of opportunity.

We pride ourselves on our contemporary approach to education; we were one of the first schools in Australia to issue iPads to all students and staff. These have become an integral and effective part of our learning programs, alongside many other progressive technological additions including robotics and laser/3D printing.

Mount Macedon Campus

Our Mount Macedon Campus is on the site of the historic Clyde Girls School on Mount Macedon. This campus has been home to Braemar and its students for its entire history of more than forty years. As of early 2018, the Mount Macedon Campus became Braemar’s Senior School Campus, hosting students from Years 9 to 12.

Great consideration has been made to ensure that all Braemar students (Years 5-12) are provided with ample opportunity to experience the facilities and routine of each campus in their day to day College life.

Woodend Campus

Our newly developed Woodend Campus opened in 2018 and has become the new home for our Middle School, hosting students from Years 5-8. The Woodend Campus has been developed and built to provide modern facilities and opportunities for our students (including technology and science).

Great consideration has been made to ensure that all Braemar students (Years 5-12) are provided with ample opportunity to experience the facilities and routine of each campus in their day to day College life.

We provide a sequential program designed to meet the academic, physical, cultural, and social needs of our students. The College’s current curriculum reflects the principles of the Australian Curriculum and its sentiment that all students should learn as they progress through their school life – wherever they live in Australia and whichever school they attend. We aim to implement that curriculum in ways that connect teachers and students. Our learning focuses on the learning areas, general capabilities, and cross-curriculum priorities.

The College is founded on Christian principles and provides an educational environment in which students develop an understanding of the central truths of the Christian faith and the moral values that are founded in the Gospel. Braemar College welcomes students regardless of their beliefs and encourages them to be critical, independent thinkers in their studies.

Our program offers diverse subject selection as students move through the College. We place priority on trying to ensure students receive their first choices and are given every opportunity to explore their interests and acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to pursue their chosen careers.
We provide the opportunity for students to complete industry-based VET training that supports them in pursuing a range of employment prospects within different sectors, as well as opportunities to study Hospitality and Industry Music.

We use a range of technology platforms where students, staff, and parents can access texts and college publications, including our Curriculum Handbooks for VCE and other year levels.

We communicate through various means to our community. A summary and links can be found here.

We provide an extensive selection of VCE subjects so that students can plan their individual learning programs to suit their talents, interests and future career plans. Subjects offered are tailored to meet student demand.

Students are transported to both of our College Campuses by bus as part of the conveyance arrangements administered by Public Transport Victoria. Transportation is provided through Organ’s Coaches in Kyneton. Details of the bus routes are available from the Organ’s website.
