Brisbane Adventist College

Brisbane Adventist College imparts far more than academic knowledge. It fosters the balanced development of the whole person—spiritual, physical, intellectual, and social-emotional—a process that spans a lifetime. There are four characteristics that make up who BAC is and what is about including:

BUILDING CHARACTER
Promoting a relevant and vibrant Christian ethos is part of the Adventist tradition. It is through participation and the College’s deep commitment to the holistic growth and development of each student, that we can become people of character.
TEACHING & LEARNING
Adventist Education has been a pioneer in education and we are proud of our heritage and traditions. BAC is a truly innovative and creative educator. A key focus is providing excellence in teaching and learning through a challenging and inclusive curriculum.
PERSONAL GROWTH
At BAC we believe our role is more than to provide knowledge; it is to build character by developing the whole person through personal growth, scholarly education, community service and spiritual awareness.
STRONG COMMUNITY
Being a BAC student and parent means that you become part of an extended school community. We are focused on developing and promoting a strong sense of community that enhances the educational program.

The College chaplaincy program is central to our provision of support for College students, school community and staff.  A chaplain's role is to:

  • Provide pastoral care
  • Lead the College spiritual development program
  • Play a key role in developing the social and emotional literacy of students within the community
  • Offer help and support to individuals and communities experiencing crisis or loss

Working in partnership with form teachers, class teachers, parents, and year level coordinators, College chaplains play a proactive role in ministering to the wellbeing of the community on an individual and collective level.

Any day of the week, you will find them chatting with students in the playground, providing encouragement, supporting positive and restorative conversations, assisting in the formation of healthy relationships between students and staff, keeping an eye on vulnerable individuals, and assisting in student welfare. An open-door policy on both campuses allows anyone who wishes to reach out for friendly support and advice the opportunity to do so.

Charged with building and maintaining the spiritual dimension of BAC, chaplains organise weekly chapel services, voluntary Bible studies, and annual Week of Worship events (on both primary and secondary campuses). They also assist in providing community service opportunities such as the StormCo trip for Year 12 graduates to Mungindi--a fun, unique week of fellowship and service offered as a popular alternative to end of year schoolies week. These programs give individuals the opportunity to form stronger connections with God and their community.

A college community growing in wisdom, standing and in favour with God and man.
OUR MISSION

Intentional integration of faith and learning
Dedicated, professional Christian staff
A supportive, safe and stimulating environment
Comprehensive curriculum pathways to success
A balanced and rewarding extra-curricular program

Brisbane Adventist College uses the comprehensive School Travel Manager for its fleet of seven school buses covering the south side of Brisbane. The cloud-based system incorporates swipe on/swipe off technology, increasing safety for little travellers and increasing information to parents. Parents can view live the exact location of both their child and the vehicle, and receive alerts with vital information such as delays due to weather or traffic conditions. With this system, you can rest assured that all compliance standards are met in full.

 Kelsey Hayes - Graduate 2009

I spent a total of thirteen years at BAC from pre-school until my Year 12 graduation in 2009. School is incredibly influential on a young person’s life, and I am so grateful for the positive schooling experience I had. During my time at BAC I made lifelong friendships, was mentored by an incredible team of teachers, received an excellent education and I was faced with many challenges and opportunities that have helped to mould me into the young woman I am today.

I was given the great honour of serving as College Captain in my final year, which required a great deal of time and effort, but equipped me with invaluable skills that I have taken into my university degree. I am now in my third year studying a Bachelor of Architecture at Queensland University of Technology. I was blessed with a Vice-Chancellor’s scholarship at the commencement of my course, which is awarded not only on the basis of academic and leadership credentials, but also on a student’s commitment to community service. BAC has always had a heart for the community, whether it be raising money for appeals, throwing creative fundraisers for various charities or sending their students on STORM Co trips to remote areas of Queensland.

In my time at BAC, I was also able to foster a passion for music by learning the piano and flute and by being involved in both the worship and concert bands. BAC instilled in me a desire to strive for excellence in all things, but more importantly to honour Jesus above everything, a critical thing to remember when you’re a part of the cutthroat design industry. BAC provided a strong foundation for my spiritual journey with Christ, and I continue to worship and serve him passionately today as he guides me through this crazy thing called life! – Kelsey Hayes

Have you heard the saying that something must be seen to be believed? In many instances, this old adage holds true, but when it comes to student potential, we must believe in a child's promise before it can be seen. Our goal is to nurture and grow every aspect of your child's learning, facilitating their development of skills, attitudes, and capacity for a life of success and fulfilment.

Our consistent academic success and high rates of student involvement in school extracurriculars and community activities are a testament to our emphasis on holistic development. This is fostered through the mentoring relationships that develop in small to medium class sizes, a strong sense of safety and community, and the robust partnership between parents, students, and our talented, Christ-centred teachers.

We invite you to join us for a private tour, where you will witness these outcomes firsthand. You'll see the happy, productive classrooms you visit, and have the opportunity to meet the children, teachers, and administrators who make our school community so special.

I urge you to spend some time with us and decide for yourself!

Kind regards,

Peter Charleson
