Right start, bright future.
Welcome to Calvary Christian College, a co-educational, independent, Christian College catering for children from the age of two years through to Year 12.
Calvary Christian College is a co-educational independent school providing excellence in Christian education to over 1000 students from our Early Learning Centre through to Year 12.
At Calvary we are committed to equipping and empowering our students to be emotionally, physically, intellectually, socially and spiritually resilient in preparation for the real world.
Our students have access to people, programs, technology and facilities that will foster and develop their character and skills to enable them to effectively and successfully interact in their world. We teach our students the value of respect for themselves, each other, and those in authority.
We must never forget why we have, and why we need our military. Our armed forces exist solely to ensure our nation is safe, so that each and every one of us can sleep soundly at night knowing we have “guardians at the gate”.
— Allen West
Calvary Christian College is proud to support the children of our ADF families. We recognise the difficulties encountered by Defence families with postings and deployments, and the associated issues involved with re-location to a new and unfamiliar environment. The College has caring staff who understand these pressures and can assist with settling in at the College and within the local community.
Defence School Mentor Program
The College runs a Defence School Mentor Program designed specifically to support the children of mobile defence families. It involves on-site, direct and flexible assistance to students, parents, teachers and other support services.
The program focuses on four key areas as students transition from one school to another, including:
Welcoming
Integrating
Absence support
Fare-welling
Some of the activities within the program include:
Assisting children and families to integrate into the new school and local community;
Monitoring the social, emotional and academic wellbeing of Defence students;
Helping students develop self-confidence, self-reliance and resilience;
Referring students to services, or school and community programs that meet their needs;
Enhancing awareness and appreciation of the unique Defence lifestyle in schools and communities; and
Providing support to children during times of parental absence.

Hello and welcome to Calvary Christian College, Townsville. We want the same thing as you when it comes to your child’s education - a solid partnership between home and school to build and develop outstanding young people.
The partnership between home and our College is the heartbeat of every child’s learning journey at Calvary. We believe that we are called to create a Christ-centered learning community that enables our students to strive to be the very best they can in everything that they do.
The development of outstanding young people does not just magically happen, it takes commitment and hard work from a lot of people over a long period of time. At Calvary, we consider it a privilege to partner with our families to see the students in our care become all that God intended them to be.
As you explore our website I hope you can see and feel that it is all facets of a student’s journey that we focus on, these being academic, sports, performance and creative arts, emotional and social development, service and leadership and the development of character in and through the opportunities our College provides. Developing young people that are prepared and well equipped for their post school journey is fundamental to everything we do.
As a College we are very deliberate and strategic about incorporating the future skills our students will require into our everyday learning across our College. Skills such as problem-solving, critical and creative thinking, communication, collaboration and conflict resolution are all fundamental to preparing our students to go out and make a difference for good in our world.
Our College values come from Jesus’ commendation to the wise stewards in Matthew 25:21 “Well done good faithful servant”. We actively seek to inculcate these values into the lives of every student in our College as we believe these foundational values are those upon which successful and meaningful lives can be built.
I extend an invitation for you to come and visit our College. It is my hope that you will see and feel for yourself our community and culture, both of which we are very proud, but as the old saying goes “there is always room for one more!” and that might be your child.
