At Canterbury College, we guide the leaders of tomorrow.

From ELC to Year 12, we build a feeling of community, instil a sense of belonging and guide our students to foster independence and seek their own path.

College staff are committed to providing a respectful, supportive and co-operative learning environment for students.

Our students receive a well-rounded education, both within and outside the classroom.

Our vision is to inspire people to achieve their personal, social and educational goals by providing the best affordable education in an environment that nurtures and promotes self-awareness and growth based on strong Christian values.

Set amongst more than 30 hectares of beautiful bushland, landscaped grounds and sporting fields, Canterbury College offers a serene, modern, and spacious environment where students feel a real connection with the grounds and take pride in their surroundings.

Our state-of-the-art facilities and contemporary buildings provide students with the best possible environment to support their every endeavour.  The College had a busy 2017 and 2018 refurbishing its classrooms, libraries, sporting facilities and outdoor spaces.

Canterbury College is surrounded by three sporting ovals incorporating four fields and housing a range of athletics facilities, including the GC2018 Commonwealth Games 400m warm up track and three squash courts. An Aquatic and Tennis Complex, featuring two pools and eight tennis courts is coming soon.

The Canterbury Events Centre (CEC) seats around 2000 people and is one of the largest events venues on Brisbane's south side. It includes a stage large enough for a full orchestra, acoustic walls and ceiling, full theatre curtaining and state-of-the-art sound and lighting.

The Arts Centre includes specialty classrooms, a 220-seat tiered auditorium with professional sound and lighting equipment, a music laboratory, 14 sound-proof studio rooms, visual art rooms and a professional-standard dancefloor.

There are two large and well-resourced libraries on the Canterbury College campus, the Secondary Library incorporating a future focused Digital Hub, and the Discovery Centre.

The Industrial Food and Technology precinct contains equipment to support the study of food and technology subjects and that provide students with hands-on experience.

The Science precinct is exceptionally resourced with classrooms, seven laboratories and a chemical room. Students conduct fascinating experiments with industry-standard equipment.

Whether our students are blossoming athletes, artists, performers or STEM stars – we offer them a chance to pursue their interests.

Sporting life is active and varied, and we have a comprehensive sporting program from Prep to Year 12.

Our Arts Academy immerses students in extension and enrichment programs in all art genres.

We have a huge and diverse range of extracurricular clubs, including:

  • Art Studio
  • Robotics
  • Computers
  • Live Production
  • Debating
  • Percussion
  • Chess

At Canterbury College we feel community is important – both within the College and throughout the local area.

We offer our students age-appropriate activities and programs to get involved in the community and to make a difference locally, nationally and internationally. Our current partners include:

Mr Daniel Walker brings to Canterbury College more than 22 years of teaching across the independent and state school sectors, and across a broad range of academic, pastoral care, staffing, operations and administration roles.

When asked what drew him to Canterbury, Mr Walker spoke about the beauty and strengths of the College, the second largest Anglican school in Queensland.

Canterbury is a well-resourced, expansive campus, with its biggest strengths in the authentic connections between staff and students, its high standard of programs and the quality of the workforce.

We pride ourselves on being a holistic, inclusive school community. The pastoral programs and strong sense of community support encourage and inspire students on their individual academic, social, physical and cultural journeys.

Canterbury has undisputed, considerable assets in its academic, sporting, arts and pastoral care offerings. My challenge is to build upon these strong foundations to take the College into the future, with world ready curriculum and skill-building opportunities to enable our students to be truly global workers, entrepreneurs and citizens.

I invite families to Canterbury for an Open Day or a personalised tour to see one of Queensland’s premier coeducational schools in action.

Canterbury College: Official Microsoft Showcase School!

img class="wp-image-12220 alignnone" src="" alt="" width="413" height="233" srcset=" 300w, /

Did you know only 11 schools in Australia have achieved the status of being a Microsoft Showcase School?

To be recognised, you must graduate up through the levels – starting as a Microsoft Lighthouse School, through to being a Microsoft Gold School, and finally reaching the peak with Microsoft Showcase School status.

The Microsoft Showcase School Program is an educational transformation program connected with an international community of innovative schools worldwide.

This program facilitates immersive experiences to encourage lifelong learning and streamline the evolution of fundamental future-ready skills, allowing students to accomplish more.

Canterbury College is now well into its third year as a 1-1 Student – Microsoft Surface Pro Laptop Device school from Year 4 upwards.

Once the program is fully rolled out, students will also receive a new device every three years, typically in Years 4, 7 and 10.

This will mean students are always working on a device capable of the demands of evolving digital learning opportunities.

There has been tremendous uptake and support by families and staff as our students use the Microsoft Surface Pro devices to ‘power’ their futures.

Of course, on simple levels, our students use their devices to research and record information predominantly using the top-end Microsoft Office package we deploy and rapid school-based data delivery.

Even in non-1-1 years, most classes leverage the ‘instant and permanent’ OneNote to teach and warehouse lessons.

In conjunction with MyCC, this takes teaching and learning to levels not imagined by generations past.

Many schools right across the world using Microsoft products aspire to become Microsoft Lighthouse Schools.

Schools must really use the technology and show genuine commitment to value-adding as an experience and an education to achieve this status.

Once becoming a Lighthouse or Showcase School, that school has access to worldwide networks for sharing insights and best-practices using the Microsoft Education Transformation Framework.

Each school is also allocated specific advisors and support from Microsoft to enable even more digital transformation, backed by exclusive access to offers and next-generation products.

There are numerous Lighthouse Schools around Australia, but in 2021/2022, only eight officially approved Microsoft Showcase Schools – including your very own Canterbury College.

Canterbury can take pride in knowing that Microsoft has acknowledged our dedication to exemplifying vision, innovation, and academic transformation, allowing students to prepare for their future beyond our campus – and truly be World Ready!

Mr James Jenkins, our Director of Innovation and Learning, is the staff member driving this initiative and deserves a massive thank you for his wonderful efforts in this area.

Becoming a Microsoft Showcase School isn’t a destination, but rather the beginning of another exciting journey. There will be new skills to learn and new tools to embrace as we turn our ambitions in the digital learning space into reality… – Mr James Jenkins
