At Lauriston Girls' School, we understand choice and the power of learning from the best.
Our goal is to connect students with choice and best-practice teaching and learning; we work daily to bring local and international connections back to Lauriston.
Whether it's working with Stanford University's Graduate School of Education to establish Australia’s first FabLearn Lab at Lauriston or developing an expert speaker series for our parent community, the needs of our students are always top of mind.
At Lauriston we teach girls to be intrepid, to ask questions and to 'give everything a go'. It's important for our students to understand that we learn equally from our successes and our mistakes. With mistakes, we teach our students to go back and try again, to consider the process and have another go; with success, we look at what aided the result and how we can apply that learning to other parts of our life.
Learning is a constant process that doesn't end with the submission of an assignment or the passing of an exam. At Lauriston 'success' is never the end of the story, it’s a launch pad towards new discoveries, innovation and understanding.
As Principal, it is an honour to work with parents and their daughters as they navigate the many choices that present themselves at every level of schooling. These are choices about the educational journey their daughter will take, choices about the environment she learns in and the educators who will inspire her.
I look forward to working with your family as you consider the choices available to you and the individual needs of your daughter.
I look forward to welcoming you to Lauriston.

Senior School
VCE and IB
Lauriston provides students with choice in their senior years of school; students can complete either the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma programme. Students receive extensive support in the lead-up to this decision, including information evenings and one-on-one discussions the IB and/or VCE Coordinators. The Heads of House are also available to talk with students, as well as the Head of Senior School. The transition to these final years is structured to be as smooth as possible, with students completing a week of their next year’s studies in the final week of Term 4.
The School also holds information sessions for both students and parents before and after the programme’s commencement and provides girls with regular feedback on their progress.
Howqua
For more than 20 years Lauriston’s Year 9 students have completed their studies at our Howqua campus. Located three hours outside of Melbourne in Victoria’s high country, Howqua is an experience unique to Lauriston where girls study a complete academic curriculum while learning more about strength, resilience and independence.
Students at Howqua also take part in an extensive wellbeing and outdoor program in which they experience camping, running, horse riding, skiing, cycling, abseiling and more.
Junior School
In the Junior School there is a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy as well as specialist and enrichment programs. Students also learn the value of leadership and develop the skills and competencies that help them engage with their peers and work together to gain different perspectives.
Kindergarten
Lauriston’s kindergarten offers coeducational three- and four-year-old programs based on the Reggio Emilia philosophy.
The school runs the following services:
There are three tram routes from the city that bring students close to the School:
Lauriston Girls' School provides scholarships to maintain and improve the high standards of academic work, arts and music performance by recruiting and retaining outstanding students. Past achievements and student potential are considered when awarding scholarships. All applicants should have excellent academic ability and must display qualities consistent with the ethos of the school.
Several factors are considered when awarding scholarships, which may include performance in the annual scholarship exam, interview with the Principal, review of academic results and provision of a portfolio of work. Some scholarships may also require families to complete a financial questionnaire.
Scholarships are available to both new and current Lauriston students. Overseas students on full-fee paying student visas are not eligible to apply for these scholarships.
Scholarships are partial scholarships and scholarship exam results from other schools are not able to be transferred to Lauriston’s Scholarship program.
For more information on scholarship applications please visit our website here or contact the Head of Admissions on T: 03 9864 7555 or E: admissions@lauriston.vic.edu.au
