At Mt Maria College, we are dedicated to unlocking each student's potential and inspiring their future success. Our welcoming community fosters growth and learning, while our curriculum and VET pathways are designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed for success in the real-world. Through authentic relationships and a supportive atmosphere, we guide each student on their chosen path, preparing them to excel in life beyond school.
Mt Maria College Petrie is a Catholic Archdiocesan Co-Educational Secondary College.
The College was established by Brisbane Catholic Education in 1987.
Central to our existence is the genuine concern for each student’s academic, spiritual and personal development. Promoting our Catholic Marist faith, personal formation and building confidence and self-esteem are paramount to our College community. There is a strong sense of family spirit and a great support for our College Mission.
Nestled on four hectares of gardens and bushland, Mt Maria College Petrie offers a dynamic and responsive curriculum to meet the educational needs of our students. It is located next to Our Lady of the Way Primary school and Our Lady of the Way Parish, Petrie.
At Mt Maria College, our curriculum is designed to unlock each student’s potential by engaging their interests and preparing them for real-life experiences. We focus on building transferable skills, fostering a love of learning, and promoting lifelong, faith-based education. Our commitment to academic excellence is reflected in our comprehensive and dynamic curriculum that caters to diverse interests and pathways.
We are committed to fostering positive working relationships with both students and parents, ensuring open communication and collaboration. This strong partnership creates a robustcircle of support between school and home, helping to achieve the best possible outcomes for our students.
We offer a variety of extra-curricular opportunities that enrich our students’ education. Sport, The Arts, Community Service, Leadership, and Technologies make up a small part of these offerings.
Our comprehensive sporting program includes swimming, athletics, cross-country, and a variety of Team sports at both College and Regional Representative level.
Our Marist Game Changes program and Student Representative Council provide students the opportunity to give back to the community and develop their leadership skills.
For those whose passion extends to The Arts, our college band, choir, instrumental program, dance troupe, and our Luminare Art extension program will be sure to provide many fulfilling experiences.
Students participate in year level camps, retreats and subject excursions, which serve to enhance their learning experiences outside the classroom. These activities allow students to explore their interests, gain self-confidence and develop their skills socially, emotionally, physically and academically.
PASTORAL CARE
Pastoral Care at MMCP embodies the nurturing ethos of faith, compassion, service and community rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ through the guidance of our Patron Saints, St Marcellin Champagnat, St Maximillian Kolbe, St Louise de Marillac and St Mary of the Cross MacKillop.
WELLBEING
Pastoral Care extends beyond academic achievement to encompass the holistic wellbeing of students. It fosters a supportive environment where students feel valued, heard and understood and cultivates character, resilience and empathy.
LEADERSHIP
We champion leadership formation and opportunities across all year levels including the Student Representative Council (SRC), Student Leadership Team (SLT) and the Australian wide Marist Youth Formation program - Game Changers.
SERVICE
We provide opportunities for service such as Care to Cook, Breakfast Club, Meet & Greet Breaky, Emmanuel City Mission, Eat Up! and fundraising for Caritas, Marist Solidarity and St Vincent de Paul.
I have been a member of the Senior Leadership Team at Mt Maria College Petrie for the past 10 years and in the role of Principal since 2023.
Prior to joining the College, I spent three years as an Education Officer – School to Post-School Transitions, with Brisbane Catholic Education. Here I worked in partnership with Griffith University to build the knowledge and understanding of College leadership teams in our Catholic secondary schools (North Region) in 'best transition practices' leading to preferred futures for students beyond secondary education.
I am deeply invested in ensuring that every student is given the opportunity to achieve their potential and in promoting student wellbeing.
Maintaining high expectations for our learners and teacher practice and embedding our Marist values in all that we do are my key priorities. In this way we can continue to nurture and inspire our students to go out and make a difference in the world in the knowledge they have the skills and dispositions to do so. We seek to unlock student potentials and inspire futures.
I strongly believe that parent engagement is essential to successful student learning and wellbeing outcomes and that this can be achieved when parents and teachers share open and respectful communication to achieve the shared goal of maximising learning and wellbeing outcomes.
I want you to know that I lead a team of committed educators who are dedicated to the mission of learning and teaching, forever mindful of, and responsive to, the needs of their learners.
