OAKHILL COLLEGE - Open Day Sun Mar 02 @10:00AM - 02:00PM [70 Days to go] |
Oakhill College is a non-selective Catholic school in the Lasallian tradition. This tradition dates back to the 17th Century when St John Baptist de La Salle gathered around him a small community and founded the Brothers of the Christian Schools, to provide a human and Christian education for needy children across France. This educational mission has now extended to around 80 countries worldwide.
For the past 80 years the school community at Oakhill has served the people of the Hills District and its surrounds from its iconic location overlooking the Blue Mountains. The College produces young men and women equipped with the skills and passion to make a positive contribution to their local communities by animating the Core Lasallian Values: Faith in the Presence of God; Quality Education; An Inclusive Community; Respect for all Persons; and Concern for the Poor and Social Justice. This is achieved through a commitment to the academic care of each student, ensuring they have every opportunity for personal growth and achievement. The House-based pastoral care system enables supportive relationships to form between older and younger students, where they are encouraged to be brothers and sisters to each other.
Oakhill College offers a rich and diverse curriculum supported by an extensive co-curricular program of activities, including youth ministry, sport, performing arts, as well as leadership and service opportunities with cultural immersion trips offered to India, Philippines, Cambodia and Vietnam. The College is well known for its quality musical and drama productions and history of sporting success.
In the 2022 HSC, Oakhill College had 7 All-Rounders, 6 Top Placements in State and 126 Distinguished Achievers, 3 ATARs over 99 and 62 students with an ATAR over 90.
Welcome to Oakhill College.
It has been said a successful school is measured by the quality of its graduates and Oakhill College is an extraordinary school. Not only does it have a long tradition of academic, sporting and cultural prowess but it is well known for its alumni who go on to serve and lead in the local community and in the halls of academia and government, on the front lines of our police and defence forces, in hospitals, schools, and care centres. At Oakhill, it is our mission to “empower all learners to serve and enrich our changing world”.
With a diverse curriculum and broad-range of extracurricular activities across arts and culture, sports and other creative pursuits, we believe in delivering a balanced education and encourage our students to explore and excel in the fields they are most passionate about. Our experienced and dedicated teaching and support staff are central in delivering successful outcomes for our students.
While academic outcomes are important, we believe that raising grounded and respectful individuals who develop into thoughtful and considerate adults is also important. We strive to develop students who are socially and emotionally flexible, resilient, happy and well-adjusted.
Oakhill College is enriched by the five core principles of Lasallian education: Faith in the Presence of God; Quality Education; Inclusivity; Respect for All; and Concern for Justice and the Poor. Students are supported to understand, appreciate and celebrate the Catholic faith and traditions.
Our College is committed to excellence. We aim to liberate, empower and motivate students to use their individual gifts with confidence, creativity and generosity. We look forward to welcoming your son or daughter to Oakhill College.
