PLC has long held a place as a leader in high-quality girls’ education and remains firmly committed to continuing on this path.
An education at PLC is one that extends well beyond traditional notions of learning and teaching. It’s one that is focussed on educating young people not just for a Year 12 result – but for opportunities to explore their passions, develop future-ready skills, and prepare them to be personally successful in the world beyond school.
Presbyterian Ladies’ College was founded in 1915 and has since sustained an international reputation for academic excellence and outstanding success in preparing young women to lead active, purposeful lives.
It is a pivotal time in PLC Perth’s 108-year history as we look to the future and plan for the areas that will make a difference in the education of our students.
It is essential that we continue to stay future-focussed and true to our vision of preparing every student to be personally successful in an evolving world. PLC’s four Strategic Pillars seek to ensure our students thrive, now and in an ever-changing future.
At PLC, everyone can lead. We nurture every student for who they are, and how they see themselves. Students are known, valued, and encouraged to lead themselves to pursue their individual passions.
PLC consistently prioritises our students and we strive to support each student’s unique journey. We provide opportunities for our students to lead, to be led, to partner and to support their peers and local community.
PLC has a long tradition of academic excellence. That excellence comes through in providing a framework that allows your daughter to try many new things and discover her passions. From our impressive Performing Arts programme, entrepreneurial opportunities, to service learning, sports and so much more – we provide countless opportunities for her to discover hidden talents. Our culture is to have a go and grant yourself permission to excel.
We believe in a holistic approach to education because we know that your daughter thrives when she's physically fit, mentally strong, and emotionally well. This is why we are so committed to valuing the unique differences in every student and providing a holistic approach that develops the whole child, bringing her a sense of purpose.
Since 1915, PLC's strong culture and legacies have driven us forward. We know where we have come from and have a firmly held mandate to protect where our past has brought us – and where it will take us next.
We look to our many extraordinary Old Collegians who inspire our current students to know what is possible. We are proud to come from a tradition of being brave, being bold, and being confident in the decisions we make. Our students continue that tradition through their own agency and voice. They have the same duty to contribute to the making of a modern legacy.
Boarding at PLC is an incredibly special experience where our girls learn and grow, in a safe and supportive environment they can call home. Girls from across Australia, and the world, build the culturally diverse PLC girls boarding school and community where girls learn about themselves, and each other, creating life-long friendships.
We are blessed with the location of PLC. The Boarding House is located in the heart of the School and the girls are surrounded by all that PLC has to offer.
The banks of the Swan River are a five-minute walk away, where the girls can easily access the PLC Rowing programme, relax on the grassy banks of the river, or try their hand at using the Boarding House Stand Up Paddle Boards.
In the leafy and safe suburb of Peppermint Grove, the PLC Boarding House is situated close to train and bus routes, allowing the older girls to venture into Perth and Fremantle. The Grove Shopping Centre is a short walk away and this is where the girls can stroll, or bike-ride after school for refreshments and a spot of shopping.
Our location gives the girls the opportunity to access all that Perth has to offer. The iconic Cottesloe Beach is a 20-minute walk from the Boarding House and can be enjoyed by the older students. For our younger boarders, we run regular transport to and from the beach, providing supervision so girls can enjoy all that is on our doorstep. A trip to Fremantle to visit the Arts Centre or the markets, an outing to enjoy the opening of the International Arts Festival in Kings Park, partaking in an outdoor cinema experience in Mosman Park, cheering on the Wildcats at HBF Stadium, visiting Elizabeth Quay… it is all possible. All these activities will serve to enrich and enhance your daughter’s experience while she is at what we believe is the best boarding house in Perth.

We recognise that every girl has unique gifts and talents and that everyone’s needs are different.
Pastoral care is defined as the commitment to, and active demonstration of concern for, the growth and wellbeing of each student, as well as the broader school community. It focuses on cultivating an environment and culture that supports the physical, social, intellectual, emotional and spiritual development of every student.
Having each girl feeling that she is known, cared for and valued as an individual is important to us. Our structures and programmes are designed to ensure this is achieved. Through their Senior School experience, girls can take risks in a safe and supported environment, develop resilience, discover their strengths and passions and grow to be young women of heart and soul.
We want our girls to be confident young women, who believe in themselves, and take charge of and engage fully with their own learning. Each girl’s talents and gifts are nurtured through flexible groupings, personalised teaching and learning programmes, and by providing numerous opportunities for them to grow.
PLC is committed to developing a positive classroom environment conducive to supporting the learning of all girls. Each is appropriately challenged and expectations of them are high but realistic.
As girls mature at different rates, their readiness for learning varies from one to another. Our classes are organised with the uniqueness of each individual in mind. Flexible groupings in Years 7 and 8 provide the opportunity for learning programmes to be targeted to each girl’s particular stage of development. Essentially, all girls undertake the same courses of study, with the pace being varied. Pre-testing at the beginning of a new aspect of learning enables us to re-group classes and to teach to the specific needs of the girls. They are able to move fluidly between groups according to their mastery. This means that every girl has every pathway open to her as she journeys through the school.
There are no limits!
