Centrally located in Tuart Hill, Servite College is a progressive Catholic secondary school for boys and girls with a rich heritage and diverse community.

At Servite we aim to allow students to ‘become all they are created to be’, with the College fitting the students rather than the student fitting the College. We aim to provide each student with a learning experience designed for them that best sets them up for future growth and success. Our graduates continue onto a wide range of post-secondary pathways including further study at university or TAFE, traineeships, apprenticeships and more.

We are stewards of the rich and historic Servite tradition established by our Seven Holy Founders in 1233 just outside of Florence, Italy. Our wonderfully vibrant and dynamic school culture promotes and integrates the core Servite values of Community, Service and Marian Identity. These guiding charisms support the development of our hospitable, inclusive and caring College community.

Servite curriculum is designed to nurture exceptional scholarship, to foster a love of and joy for learning.

We believe that our curriculum must be relevant to our students’ lives and the issues that they face.

We engage students in a wide range of disciplines through both disparate subjects and cross curricular inquiry projects that connect our students’ learning to real life problems.

We focus on core STEM initiatives and integrate important digital literacies across the curriculum. We acknowledge the developing technical skills necessary for student success in the wider world and therefore make this a constant focus for our curriculum planning.
Gymnasium, Performing Arts Auditorium, 25m outdoor pool, rock-climbing wall, virtual reality lab, woodwork studio, dance studio, weights gym, fabric and textiles space, food technology kitchen.

We have a second campus on 55 acres of natural bushland in Nannup, where students visit for camps and retreats.

Our students are encouraged to seek the best for themselves through a continuing openness to growth in all areas of their lives – intellectual, spiritual, moral, aesthetic, physical and emotional.

Students have the opportunity to experience a full range of activities which can help them to clarify options and kindle passionate interests that will endure beyond their years at our College.

Opportunities include:

  • Broad co-curricular Sport programs, including e-Sports and an exclusive partnership with Italian soccer slub Atalanta BC
  • Gifted and Talented programs
  • Instrumental and Vocal Music programs
  • Leadership programs
  • Ministry-based faith development programs
  • Service Learning programs
  • Servite Clubs (Art Club, Chess Club, Runing Club, Knitting Club, STEM Club, Swim Club)
  • Visual and Performing Arts exhibitions and competitions
We embrace the diversity of our students and develop programs to support their particular learning needs.

We believe in designing learning programs to suit all students. Education at Servite aims to encompass the full spectrum of needs, including students with diagnosed disabilities, students with specific learning difficulties and gifted and talented students.

We host a Telethon Speech and Hearing Team on campus who provide a support program at Servite for students with a hearing loss. TSH staff work collaboratively with College staff to ensure students are able to fully participate in mainstream school life.

At Servite our focus is primarily on the integration of students into the classroom, with the majority of our support focused within classroom. We also offer withdrawal support on a needs basis, including focus classes in the areas of literacy and numeracy. Our Learning Diversity Centre is a purpose-built education space with a kitchen, sensory room and meeting areas. Additional needs students in the senior school are supported from this centre as well as through our ongoing use of flexible options. In Year 11 and Year 12 students access work skills and Vocational Education programs, focused literacy and numeracy classes and one-on-one support.

Extending students inside and beyond the curriculum is a key goal for identified Gifted and Talented (GATE) students.
Students may be extended by:
• In-class differentiation by the class teacher with assistance from Learning Diversity staff
• Participation in the GATE program – collaborating with peers and undertaking extension modules of work both at a local and global levels
• Invitation to participate in co-curricular programs eg. Tournament of Minds
• Special programs run by the GATE Coordinator
• Personalised extension projects to meet an individual’s needs
• Accessing various external programs as they arise eg. university invitations to special programs, gifted and talented programs, subject specific clubs etc.
• Acceleration – eg. participation in Extension Maths classes in their study
• Linking with a mentor in a specific area of interest
Identification

The Priory System

At Servite, all students and staff belong to one of six Priories (house/faction):

  • Annunziata (yellow)
  • Senario (black)
  • San Clemente (green)
  • Saint Mary (blue)
  • Our Lady of Sorrows (purple)
  • Saint Anthony (red)

Each Priory contains seven Homerooms.

Homeroom

Students remain in the same Homeroom, with the same Homeroom Teacher, throughout their time at the College. Each Homeroom made up of boys and girls from Year 7 to Year 12 so everyone has an opportunity to engage with different year levels. Homeroom runs for the first 10 minutes of each day, and a bit longer on Wednesdays.

Homeroom Teacher

The Homeroom Teacher has the most important role in our Priory system, responsible for providing an environment wherein each student is personally known and valued. The Homeroom Teacher is an advisor and first point of contact for students and families for most questions or concerns.

Head of Community

Each Priory is guided by a Head of Community (HOC), who is a leader in promoting the care and overall wellbeing of students. HOCs have a key role in fostering a sense of connection and belonging at the College, promoting a friendly, hospitable and respectful environment.

To support the wellbeing of students as they move through the year levels at the College, Heads of Community liaise with parents, Homeroom Teachers and Heads of Learning Areas in tracking student progress and resolving pastoral issues.

HOCs build Priory spirit and encourage staff and students to become involved in the life of the Priory, coordinate Priory activities, year level activities and whole school events, as well as the selection of Student Leaders who will work with them to ensure the smooth running of their Priory.
