St. Andrews Grammar is a co-educational Pre K-12 School centrally located in the Perth suburb of Dianella. We are proudly Hellenic, building traditions around our Christian values. The cultural diversity among the student population is an enriching aspect of the School’s development. Being a Grammar School, our emphasis is on high academic standards and the social and emotional welfare of every student. The student population is multicultural, with 47+ different nationalities represented in the School.
WACE Courses
There are three types of WACE courses – ATAR, General, and VET (Vocation Education Training). Students may
take a mixture of these courses.
Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) courses
ATAR courses are designed for students who are aiming to enrol in a university course directly from school.
These courses are examined by SCSA and contribute to the achievement of an ATAR. The ATAR is used to
determine eligibility for university entrance. Students seeking to achieve an ATAR will need to complete a
minimum of 4 Year 12 ATAR courses, excluding unacceptable combinations.
Students enrolled in Year 12 ATAR courses pair of units are required to sit the external examination. Students
who do not sit the examination will not:
have a course mark or grade recorded on their WASSA
receive an ATAR course report
have the pair of units completed in that year contribute towards any of the WACE requirements
General Courses
General courses are designed for students who are aiming to enter vocationally based training (TAFE) or join the
workforce or seek alternative university entry programs once they have finished Year 12. These courses do not
have an external examination. However, they each have an Externally Set Task (EST) which is set by SCSA.
Students who choose this pathway must complete 5 general courses or a combination of ATAR and general
courses.
Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualifications
St Andrew’s supports a broad range of VET programs to cater for students who wish to gain hands-on experience
and prepare themselves for entry into the workplace. As well as school-based Certificate programs, there are
also many TAFE and industry-based training opportunities available.
There is a cost associated with enrolling in a Certificate course. Students will also need to make their own way to
courses run at TAFE centres. Parents will cover the cost of all required resources and travel expenditure
associated with this option.
St. Andrew’s Grammar offers a limited number of Scholarships for students demonstrating outstanding academic ability and excellence. Scholarships are open to both existing and prospective students who always strive to achieve their best and whose place at St. Andrew’s Grammar will benefit themselves, the School and the greater community.
Each year St. Andrew’s Grammar offers the ACER exam as a way of potentially gaining a scholarship. Registrations are NOW CLOSED for 2025 however each year, this exam is held in or around March.
The exam is designed and graded by the Australian Council of Educational Research (ACER). Parents receive individual feedback about their child’s performance on the exam and the School Board determines the number of Scholarships and the discount to be awarded on each Scholarship each year.
Please check back here towards the end of 2025 for the registrations to open for the 2026 exam.

At St. Andrew’s Grammar, we challenge and inspire every student to achieve their own personal level of excellence. We maintain high standards of students working to the best of their abilities. Our comprehensive, rich and engaging curriculum, delivered with a high-level of personalised attention, supports each student to reach their goals.
NAPLAN is an annual national assessment for students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 to assess if students are reaching important literacy and numeracy goals. Each school receives a score for Reading, Writing, Spelling, Grammar and Numeracy for each group.
St. Andrew’s Grammar has produced consistently strong NAPLAN results, ranging between 93% to 100% of our grades being above state and national averages year upon year.
As a smaller School, St. Andrew’s Grammar’s Year 12 ATAR cohort does not usually constitute enough numbers to qualify for Western Australian school ATAR rankings. However, we are very proud of the academic achievements of our ATAR students. In 2021, most of our Year 12s had received pre-offers from universities prior to even completing their exams. We have also enjoyed a history of high graduation rates.
