An experiential learning program is transforming Years 9 and 10: Capstone

Brighton Grammar's Capstone program spans Years 9 and 10 – a vital time in the education of every boy.

Capstone is a series of dynamic, engaging and diverse opportunities. Created within our Positive Masculinity framework, our Capstone program brings together our Anglican heritage, academic, co-curricular and pastoral care programs to create the ideal educational experience, motivating our young boys to be better men.

Some of the benefits of the 9/10 Capstone program

Connected

Strengthens family, community and peer relationships and connections

Authentic

Promotes guided supportive, shared transition as boys become young men

Motivated

Helps boys learn and grow through transformational experiences

The Program

The Capstone program is built within the three pillars of positive masculinity (connection, authenticity and motivation) and the four archetypes that represent a BGS boy as he becomes a successful man; the caregiver, the magician, the warrior and the sage. Guided by their peers, the Threshold and Breakthrough experiences throughout the program prepare, develop, extend and challenge our boys to finally complete the First Horizon program near the end of Year 10. Once this program is complete, the boys are welcomed back into the community as young men and they will lead the school through their Years 11 and 12.

While the transition into adulthood is the pinnacle, the journey itself is a crucial part of the process.

The key features of Capstone are:

+M immersion

  • Ontological exploration of self and other (the many ways of being)
  • Social Emotional development through engagement in indigenous, diversity and ethical awareness
  • Guided growth and development through community
